Next week, I will embark on a new journey as a grad school student taking Master of Arts in Nursing in Centro Escolar University Manila to which I assume will get me to academe to teach in a reputable nursing school. I'm excited to meet new acquaitances and experience a whole new ball game in my career. I am just thankful for my parents for the full support in reaching my full potential...I'm a little agnostic but I am grateful to God for all the blessings since then...I'm really just excited. To God be the Glory!

Before my good friend Natalia went to Rome, she invited me to go ice skating with her friends...I would say it was a fun experience but not as easy as it may seem...I'm never really a sporty person...To be honest I dont have a sport at all!!!...although I play badminton once in awhile when my tito's family were still here in the country...I was beyond ecstatic! I was waiting to try ice skating for soooo looooooonnng...I fell once, but thats part of it...and I get to meet new acquaintances...

P.S. Actually, all of them tried this before when they were still a kid...but we are like all newbies...LOL

So basically, it says when your in love only a small portion of your brain is working...and you can't really assess the big picture because you are inattentive to some details...The only thing you see is the good side of the person (like he or she could do no wrong). In addition to that, exercise, chocolates, new experiences together and the likes releases endorphins which make you feel good and spirits high.

5 Tips before and after the release of 2008 NLE Results

Things to do before and after the release of the November 2008 NLE Results:

1) Relax for a few days - Watch movies, play video games, read an interesting book, go out of town, visit your friends and relatives. Do these things because after the release of the board exam results, you will have a lot of things to do.

2) Prepare all the documents needed for your employment - with thousands of graduates and board passers, it's always an edge to be early. To find out more on the documents needed for your employment, I made a list here: Documents for Employment.

3) Plan your goals in life - If you plan to go to US, Canada, Japan, Singapore or UK then read more about the requirements and qualifications they need. If you will sign a contract under an agency always read the contract and ask for clarifications if there are any. Don't be too eager to sign a contract. Always plan and have a foresight on the problems that you may encounter. If you plan to stay here in the Philippines, engage yourself in other activities that would improve your career as a nurse. You can enroll in a masteral degree, you can train to be a good reviewer or teacher, you can even sign up as a volunteer nurse in rural areas, it's your choice.

4) Read and Study your Nursing Subjects - Yes, you still need to study your past subjects. Even if you already have your license, it is important to brush up on your knowledge and skills if possible. You'll be surprised with your learning capacity, now you will be able to comprehend those ambiguous words and topics that you encountered during college.

5) If you pass the November 2008 NLE exam take note of the registration period, your oath taking date and inquire on the dates as to when you can procure your board certificates, board rating etc.
Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450. American Idol kick off with season with a promise of new twist and welcomes Kara DioGuardi as a new judge...

The only idol that I did pay attention was season 3: Fantasia Barrino, season 4: Carrie Underwood and season 4: David Cook...What I like about this show is that its changes the music landscape of America. It produces sheer talent to balance the gimmicks of some artist...if you know what I mean...but not only that they win academy awards too (thats too much of what they bargain for)...Jennifer Hudson did really well...most of the idol alumni did well especially Carrie and Kelly both a Grammy winners!

I think this season has a great start and the contestants have different personalities to keep it interesting...

In Japan, you are what you bleed. Blood type is a common way of defining temperament and personality, much like horoscopes in Western countries.

It all started in 1931 in Japan. Furukawa Takeji (1891–1940) proposed that there was a link between blood type and personality after working in the administration department of a high school and observing the temperamental differences between applicants.

Furukawa proposed that we humans are simple beings, only requiring two personality types. His report stated that people of bloodtype A were generally mild tempered and intellectual , while people of blood type B were the opposite, essentially dividing the population into the “good” and the “bad.”

Why so popular in Japan?

Blood type was a contentious issue in the 1920’s and 30’s. The interest in blood types in Japan grew as a reaction against Western racism. Scientists in the west found that type B was common in Asia, but rare in Caucasians. As type B was typical in animals, they argued that Asians were inferior, lower on the evolutionary scale. Japanese scientists were keen to disprove this ludicrous theory, debate continued and it became a popular “ology.”

Masao Ohmura, a professor of personality psychology at Nihon University doesn’t believe that blood type has any bearing on personality. He suggests that the reason for the popularity of blood typology in Japan is because the Japanese are genetically quite a homogeneous race, but don’t want to seem the same. The Japanese population, however, has a fairly even distribution of a number of blood types. Hence, if grouped by blood type, diversity is created, even if it is only the illusion of diversity.

In Europe and America, however, the vast majority of people are type A or O, with only a few type B’s and even fewer AB’s. Therefore, most people would fall into two personality categories, an either/or choice of temperament, possibly explaining why blood typology has not been a big hit overseas in the past.

Interestingly, 90% of the Japanese know their blood type, although whether this is the reason the fad became so popular or a consequence of its popularity is not certain. In contrast, their European and American peers are blissfully unaware of not only their blood type, but also the “blood typology” phenomenon.

Of course, if you are a type AB or O you will probably dismiss all of this blood-analysis out of hand as New Age mumbo jumbo, but the more sensitive type A's or B's may want to discover more…

MELBOURNE, Australia - Roger Federer had nowhere to hide.

Rod Laver was about to present the cup to Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal. Federer stood on the court, having just missed his first chance to equal Pete Sampras' record 14 Grand Slam singles titles. He was sobbing. He couldn't speak. "In the first moment you're disappointed, you're shocked, you're sad, then all of a sudden it overwhelms you," Federer finally said, referring to his 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2 loss to Nadal in a momentum-swinging, 4-hour, 22-minute title match Sunday night.

"The problem is you can't go in the locker room and just take it easy and take a cold shower. You're stuck out there. It's the worst feeling. ... It's rough."

Nadal, the first Spanish man to win the Australian Open, beat Federer in Grand Slam finals on clay and grass last year. He added the missing link Sunday with his first major title on hard courts.

The 22-year-old Spaniard is 5-2 against Federer in championship matches at the majors - 3-0 in the last three - and 13-6 in career meetings. The most riveting was Nadal's five-set, four-hour, 48-minute win over Federer at Wimbledon last year, ending the Swiss star's five-year reign on grass.

Now, 40 years after Rod Laver last won the Grand Slam - all four majors in one season - Nadal is the only man who can emulate him in 2009.

Federer had been the most likely of the recent contenders, missing by one in 2006 and 2007 - losing to Nadal at Roland Garros both years. Clay remains his obstacle. And the French Open was the only major missing in Sampras' career.

"God, it's killing me," Federer said, crying, as he tried at first to accept the runner-up plate. He returned to congratulate Nadal within minutes, saying: "You deserved it. You played a fantastic final."

After collecting the trophy from Laver, on the court named for the Australian great, Nadal put his arm around Federer.

"To receive this trophy from Rod Laver is a dream for me," he said. "Rod, thanks very much. It was an amazing two weeks for me."

Nadal seemed pained by Federer's anguish.

"Roger, sorry for today. I really know how you feel right now," Nadal said. "Remember, you're a great champion, you're one of the best in history. You're going to improve on the 14 of Sampras." Nadal was in the final of a major on hard courts for the first time, having been knocked out in the semifinals of the Australian and U.S. Opens last year.

Even this time, he had to struggle to make the last weekend. He held off a fellow Spanish left-hander in Fernando Verdasco on Friday in five hours, 14 minutes - the longest match in the tournament's history.

Federer went into the final on straight sets wins over No. 8 Juan Martin del Potro and No. 7 Andy Roddick after having to rally from two sets down to beat Tomas Berdych in the fourth round.

Nadal ranked this title high on his list of six majors.

"Very special, for me," he said. "A dream win here, one Grand Slam on hard court. I worked very hard ... all my life" to improve "outside of clay. Today was really lot of emotions on court. I was there with the best player I ever saw."

Nadal said he'd be trying to break the record for most major titles, whoever holds it. He said he knows how tough it is to win every one.

"You have to be humble," he said.

Federer, for his part, hasn't given up on beating the Sampras record or of beating Nadal, on any surface.

"For sure," he said. "I didn't spend 4 1/2 hours out there (not) believing it."

Federer was struggling with mononucleosis in Australia last year and was knocked out by eventual champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. He was hampered early in the season, but turned it around with a title at the U.S. Open.

Facing the No. 1 player for the first time in a major final - he held the top ranking for 237 consecutive weeks and Nadal was knocked out in the semifinals in New York in September - he seemed to be playing catch-up after dropping his opening service game.

He saved two championship points from 15-40 in the eighth game of the fifth set but sent a forehand long on the third match point.

Nadal flopped onto his back, then got up and raced to shake hands. The players put their arms around each other's shoulders at the net as they walked off the court.

Although Federer actually won one more point (174-173), his serve let him down all too frequently. He connected on only 51 per cent of his first serves, and it seemed as if all his six double-faults came at critical times.

And as the pressure ratcheted up in the fifth set, it was Federer who wilted, not Nadal. Federer had six winners and 14 unforced errors in the set. Nadal had just two unforced errors and dropped only three points in four service games.

Federer converted only six of his 19 break-point chances; Nadal converted seven of 16.
It was the first Australian Open men's final to go to five sets since Mats Wilander beat Pat Cash in 1988, the first at Melbourne.

So, I joined the Obama fever bandwagon...I only heard him from the news but I really did not pay attention up until this "historical day" of his inauguration. The two Philippines' biggest media companies namely ABS-CBN and GMA are covering the event as it unfolds live straight from the US...So I guess I will be awake till 2am to witness myself the charismatic leader who would faced the looming economy and war against terrorism inherited from the not-so-quite-former president George Bush.

It's really amazing how a leader of another country would somehow affect Philippines by politics alone...Common Filipinos may not be as excited about America these days, since we have a lot more problems here on our own.

However, aren't we one of the countries who is the biggest recipient of humanitarian aid in the US, jobs such as call centers...blah blah blah...

For most of us, including myself who would like to be employed in US in a near near near future...it still is..."The Land of Dreams"

Although Canada is the best option...

Hindi ka Diyos!

Last new years eve, I had a talk with my mom, Tita Helen, cousin Lendle at the dining table...we talk about lots of stuff about life...and nonchalantly, we converse about my "Dad and Mom" as to why they got separated and the stories in their life that I have not known yet...

Maybe, I should not go on with the details of the chaos that happened but from what had Tita Helen told me the words "Hindi ka Diyos!" struck me...

BIGTIME!

I now know how we are indebted by those people that selflessly help us when we have none...It reminded me that at one point we have nothing...it humbles me...

I now understand why...

It definitely answer some questions...

It's ok when your in your 20's I would PERFECTLY UNDERSTAND about womanizing, dependence and being JOBLESS...

BUT!!!

If your 37 and you have a family with 3 children to feed...and still asking your sister (my mother) to provide you BASIC needs such as foods, shelter and children's education...I, in my lucid mind just couldn't get it...I mean do you get it?!? Is it even rational?!?

My mom said it's better that I AM NOT in their position...(But if I am in their shoes...I would find work...be grateful of what's given...and act at least appropriately)

The way I see it...it seems they think that everything that we own is their own too...they would just get something from us without even consent...that you have to give and give and give...

GENEROSITY and GIVING are good values but...you can only do so much...

New Moon

First off, I haven't read the first installment of the famed author Stehanie Meyer's "Twilight" series. However, upon watching the movie, I caught myself in a pop culture with a cult-following worldwide phenomenon.

So why the HELL this flick ticks???

1) Its unconventional: Who would have thought vampires could look this good? Who would have said that vampires could be in a love story? Moreso, in a lead role?

2) Refreshing: Aren't you just tired of the superhuman...all-time-favorite-comic-book-flicks? haha me too...

3) Emo thingy: i think we are back in the days that emo are in...the more weird you are the better it is...(just check American Idol season 8...just kidding)

How did I get acquainted in "New Moon"?

I give you one word: BOREDOM

I have the picture above the hard copy of new moon from Canada...I just borrowed it from my cousin...

Reading the first 16 chapters of it was a breeze...since I knew the characters, the gripping love story and so on...I even enjoyed it...

BUT...

after that 16 chapters I couldn't help but despise Bella due to her selfishness, average type, idiot like mentality...I just HAD IT... it doesn't have enough magic, bloodsucking love story and dragging story line...

Poor Jacob Black!...that's all I got to say...

On the other hand, it's good to know that Taylor Lautner remains to play his role as Jacob Black and Vanessa Hudgens might be playing a role as Leah Clearwater on the upcoming sequel...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

After so many weeks, I finally decided to see a movie, from the Hollywood's A-lister's such as Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"...

The last movies that I saw was by Leonardo Di Carpio's "Body of Lies", HSM 3, Mark Wahlberg's "Max Payne" and Shia Lebeouf's "Eagle Eye"...all in ONE DAY alone!!! but watching Leo's movie in itself was thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking...(If I did not do this movie marathon I would have been insane from months and months and months of REVIEW for my nursing licensure examination...who says entertainment is cheap?)

I have never been a fan of Brad simply because I dont find his movies substantial and it was always focus on his sex appeal, looks and body...other than that, what else?!? Thoughts?!? (Troy, ocean's eleven and the likes)...However, he can get away with it...Sadly...

Cate Blanchett was stellar!

So why the hell did I watched the movie in the first place?! Simply because the title itself resembles a book that I have read years before the "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" by Mark Haddon. The book has an interesting premise...and so I thought maybe this movie would live up to my expectation...

I would say it was indeed interesting...seeing Benjamin's transformation from an aged infant to adolescent to a dying baby...the women in his life...so forth and so on...

I would say that even if we could reverse the order of life...Life in itself is complicated...it is in how we live our life and cope with it...All of us play different roles to fill each others emptiness...So, have you realize what are meant for?

Christmas: The Viloria way!

Viloria clan sure knows how to F-U-N and... and... and... uhhhmmm let's keep it that way hahaha...I myself enjoyed the craziness till... not 3am... not 4am... not 5am BUT... 7 am in the morning!!! Everybody was present at Tito Nestor's House in Dau, Pampanga. For sure, the host was distraught by the chaos we have done...but Christmas is christmas without a little alcohol, dancing, karaoke and chatting with cousins...

Christmas are for kids! and sure it is...The gifts were given by Tito Johnny and Tita Weng however since they migrated to Singapore, they still keep up with the tradition of gift giving through me and emily (with their financial support of course)...The boys got polo shirt and bakugan toys while the girls have bags, vanity kit and head gear (see pictures above).

I'm happy that my mom and dad are patching things up since my dad ended his relationship with who knows who...It's good to see them talking and being a "family"...although im so over the cheesy stuff, I hope they both genuinely feel mutual with how things are going on with their lives...I'm just glad to have a dad to talk with all these years...Even though I've given up on hopes on having a complete family, I'd still hope they end up with each other...Someday...who knows?!?

Bohol Escapade!!!

Last December 17 to 20, I had the priviledge to join my relatives from Canada to visit the island in Bohol. It was also the time where I get to meet my cousins and get to know them as a person not as an entity in social networks. The De Roca's and Rivera's are very accomodating, generous, considerate...Just want to say thank you so much...hope you guys visit the Philippines soon or should I say i'll visit you guys in Canada...

Road through Mahogany Forest...the "look" and "feel" like your in the twilight movie but where are the vampires???...In addition to that, a bamboo hanging bridge showing filipino ingenuity and resourcefulness...

River cruise of Loboc is just a plain bliss...all you have to do is to eat filipino dishes (I'm hungry right now!), listen to a live acoustic, watch the greeneries, see the folks dance and entertain at the riverside...what more could you ask for??? oh that's HEAVENLY!

Tariser, tarsier and oh more tarsier...Aside from ubiquitous chocolate hills, Bohol is known also for their smallest primate in the world!...I saw the picture from the internet but I didn't expect it to be THAT small. We also visited Baclayon Church, one of the oldest church in the Philippines...

We went on an island near panglao beach resort through a boat "bangka". The travel was about an hour and the surprisingly the journey was pretty smooth with small splashes and bumps, but it was all well. From our area we could see the island of cebu (which I have been too also). We enjoyed snorkeling around the small island. You literally swim and feed the fish!!! It was A-MA-ZING to see other world other than our own. The colors, the movement, the unkown was really exciting. I drank a lot of salt water so I didn't dare myself to go beyond the coral border...You could see it was so deeeeeeeeeeep. Some of us including myself were sting by corals (yellow one), prick by a sea urchin and leave scars due to sharp corals but still I had FUN.

Flying back to Manila from the island of Bohol via Philippine Airlines flight 178. I'm sandwhich by Tito Del and Lolo Ben...I HAD THE BEST TIME EVER!!! It was the best trip I had, next to Vigan...I will definitely go back to bohol...Woot!

Happy Holidays to everyone! 2008 was a blast...I finally graduated from college...took "the" Nursing Board Exam, end a 3 long years relationship , traveled to Bohol and Vigan...so forth and so on...

I HOPE 2009 will be more fruitful to all of us! ...
